Costa de Almeria

The undiscovered province of Almeria, on the eastern edge of Andalucia, has long stretches of empty beaches with hidden coves and perfectly clear water. Hundreds of films, including Lawrence of Arabia, A Fistful of Dollars and Patton, have been produced in the local hillsides. Because of Almeria's diverse landscapes, the range of sporting activities on offer is endless, from water sports to hiking, paragliding, horse riding and golf.

To either side of the town of Almeria, the coastline includes a number of popular resorts but is still completely unspoilt. To the south are Aquadulce with its marina, and the busier, more modern complexes at Roquetas del Mar, Playa Serena and Almerimar. To the north are the rugged coast of the Cabo del Gato-Nijar natural park and the expanding resorts of Mojacar Playa and Vera.

This region is one of Spain's hottest and sunniest, and winter temperatures rarely fall below 15°C.
