Kathleen Armishaw and her partner, Jason Dicks, decided to invest in overseas property as a pension for Kathleen. With a budget of £100,000, they considered buying in Europe, but were put off by potential language barriers and by the poor performance of the Euro.
The couple traveled out to Florida in January, 2004, and had completed on their 3-bedroom townhouse in Regal Palms by the end of April. Superior provided a villa for them to stay in so they could sample the delights of Regal Palms, and they were amazed, not only by the facilities at the resort, but by all that Florida has to offer.
Florida seemed a good alternative, particularly for John whose main interest is golf, but at first Kathleen was not so sure.
"Initially, I had no desire to go Florida," she admits, "But Jason finally persuaded me."
"I was hooked within 3 days of arriving and couldn't wait to buy a house at the Superior Group's Regal Palms resort. He says it takes me longer to decide on buying a pair of shoes than it took me to decide on buying this house!"
"Florida is a totally different experience," enthuses Kathleen. "It's not just Disney – though that is a great place for families. It's the whole area, with its different animals and things to see. The Gulf Coast is only an hour's drive away, and the Florida Keys are just 200 miles."
Regal Palms itself exceeded their expectations. "The clubhouse is now finished, along with the pools and that really makes it," says Kathleen. "The restaurant is A1, and because the whole place is a gated community, it's great for parents to just lie around knowing that the kids are safe to play in the pools and water slides."
The couple saw the Superior Group's ad in the Sunday Times, and called the Bristol office to discuss options. "I can't speak highly enough of Superior," says Kathleen. "Their staff have been extremely helpful every step of the way."
Kathleen and Jason are planning now on selling this property to help finance a larger detached villa with private pool on the Superior group's new Oakmont resort development. "Our house in Florida is so much nicer than our house in England," says Kathleen, "I think we'll end up selling up here, starting a business over there and moving out eventually." |
